I went today and looked at the ms361 and the 365 special they seemed to feel about the same weight, I couldn't feel the difference. The 361 sure has alot of plastic, how does the composite handle fair? For the guys that have the 365, have you had any fuel leaks for the transparent tanks or leaking oil?

no leaking other than a cap replacement one or two times. The new style husky caps are much better.

No leaking from the tank though.....

Not sure if you are looking at a new saw, but what about a 372xp when the new 07 crop comes out? Not sure how much more they will be but might well be worth it if you can get a good price. Same weight, a good bit more HP.

Another thing to consider is vibration and filtration. The Huskies are by far better at air filtering and the vibration system is very good too. My local Stihl dealer ran the 361 and doesn't know why there is all the hype. But it sure seems anyone on the site who owns one has been satisfied. Good luck with whichever saw you purchase.

I thought the MS361 and MS441 had really good air filtration and anti vibration systems?

Of the 365's that I run I find them to have a very forgiving powerband.

I think a 365 would spin a 24" bar better than a Stihl 361.

Buy what you like...........that is really what it comes down to!!!

I'm 100% certain it will.....And I could be wrong here,but doesn't the 365 and 372 have the same bottom end??...Meaning you can convert a 365 to a 372 with a top end kit.

when I was down at the saw shop the guy was saying that what they have done is taken the top end off a 75cc cut off saw(Husky) and put it on the 365 to make it a 75cc.He said it bolts right up.They have done quite a few now with no problems. Have guys tried this?

Ok here goes the 365 is the same bottom end as a 372 it has a smaller bore by 2mm and some carry a zama carb while some carry a walbro just like a 372 a 372 head will bolt on the saw and give you a 71+\- cc disp. Not sure about the cut off saw head but I have heard of 75 cc 372's Dont forget you can make it 78cc with a baileys kit

Yup, both my 372's are on 365 bottom ends. I also have a 375K cylinder on a 372 chassis. 1mm bigger bore than the 372. Bailey's BB kit is 2mm bigger than the stock 371/372. 371K cylinders also bolt up.

Also, all this interchanges on the 362xp, both old and new versions...(old = small bar mount, new = bigger bar mount)

Been using a 365 for years - very forgiving powerband and a great firewood saw. I like the extra punch from the 372, but I would never turn down a chance to pick up another 365///

Not compared to huskys air injection! I have to clean the stihls daily can leave the 357 for a few days and it still does not realy need cleaning.

Used 365 the other day not much difference in weight and more torque than my 357xp,nice saw.

so the stihl (ms 361) does not have some sort of air injection system on it? Excuse my ignorance never owned a stihl or used one for that matter. So the stihl a kinda old school in that dept?

I have two Stihl (non pro models) saws now, a 021 and a 029. the air filters do get dirty pretty quick. I was under the impression that the new MS361 and MS441 had a lot better air filter system then the older models. I could be wrong.........wouldn't be the first time! :)

..... .

The 361 has a very large filter surface, so this isn't a real issue - very easy to access and clean also, without tools......:)
