right now i have a 365 that i use daily- i am a small tree service owner. its been a very good saw, but lately has been lacking some power ( been pretty hot and muggy here ) and needs the idle turned up just a tad ( i wont do that... my luck ill over tune it or something ) ive had it 3 years and the saw has been awesome.

ive been wanting to upgrade though, MORE POWER!!! i also like to keep my stuff fresh / updated.

how much could i sell a husky 365 in very good shape for?

how do you guys like the husky 372XPs ?

also, i could use a new top handle / climbing saw soon. i dont use mine that much, but its an Echo thats 5 years old, just time to upgrade. how are the top handle huskys? ( the Stihl 020s rock, but my brother and the climber seem to have ALOT of problems with them ) so id like to NOT spend $500+ on a small saw, but still get decent performance / lifespan out of it.

suggestions?

Upgrade your 365XP to a 372XP. The saws are identical, except the 365 uses a smaller piston which in turn equals smaller displacement. Swap your top end out for a 372XP top end, or a big bore kit from Bailey's and it will be like having a NEW 372 for around $150.

As for the top handled saw...I am not an arborist, so I can't comment.

as far as i'm concerned, the 372 is the best saw ever made.

with the 044 following closely in that class.

get them while they are hot because they are HOT HOT HOT right now.

i'm buying every nice one i can find and i just found a local source for them new at a screaming deal by new england standards but i ain't telling because i don't want them all bought up (and i don't want the PC police upset with me again).they are still cheaper at baileys but i like the local support if i ever needed it.

I have all Huskies, 371, 394, 395 and a couple that need help, a 266 and a 2101. Except for a new 2171 Jonsered and a Stihl MS 200T. The J-Red is like a 372 and the Stihl, well, I understand the one handed Husky ain't so good. I have ran lots of 372s, they are nice saws, right up there with the best. For me the best are 288xp, 266XP, Stihl 020 and 034 (pro model). The 300 series saws are just not as tough as the 200 saws, but they are lighter and faster. So yeah, get one.

don't get me wrong clearance.i like the 200 saws.

they just aren't as plentiful as i'd like.and i ain't gonna let that happen with the 372.

The Husky 372xp has a very good reputation here at AS, and other saw forums.

I just had too have one before they are all gone, due to EPA and EU regulations....:)

Got some interesting news yesterday on everyones favorite Husky.

The 372XP is coming back as a regular model in the catelog for 2008, and will stay there for a few more years. No more just bringing in a one shot deal on 3000 saws. The reason is that the combination of the new X-torque models, plus the purchase of Red Max has put the company in a very good position concerning EPA credits. One small change is that the tank will be vented into the carb box instead of just into the air. This is already being done with the Jonsered 2171. Speaking of which, I think the Jonny will have still have a price advantage of about $75 on the Husky.

There are also a few more X-torque saws arriving this fall. 445/450 replacing the 345/350. (different and smaller chassis than the 455/460)

137/142's are going away. (Hooray!!!) 240 this fall and 235 early 2008.

The 372 is a great saw, one of the best ever. but the 365 is good too. The 372 will have a bit more power just because it has a 12cc bigger engine (72cc verses 65cc).
You need to learn to tune your saws. Get a good tachometer and learn to use it, it's easy.
Also learn to sharpen your saws. I know, I know, you already are the best sharpener ever, but usually the guys that want more power are the ones that need a little help tuning and sharpening their saws.
Read this thread Art Martin:Will the Real Logger Please Stand Up for help with your sharpening skills.
Then Visit Madsen's site for great information on saw tuning. You really need to search the site over good. There's loads of good information on saw tuning.
I was going to link Madsen's site but it looks like it's down. Anyone have a link to those tuning pages?

These posts really belong here;

BTW Sawtroll the 441 is much smoother but I knew it was to begin with,LOL

Blue is my favorite color,hehe

CONGRATS, finally!!!!!!:rockn:

...but both the high air filter and the GB bar adds unnesessary weight.... ...

Is the chain LG or LP, or something else? - it makes a differense regarding the smoothness......

With all these muscles weight is no problem ole feller. I ran the thing just abit ago, tant bad, tant bad at all. I did notice it puts out some fumes bigtime but I like the smell of fuel mix burning. I'll get her home and have some fun with it later.
So tell me Sawtroll is this cat bias? I've always said I likes saws, hehe

The chain is Stihl baby,33rsc72. I am very bias about my chains, nuttin but the best when it comes to chains for this ole boy...

Fine, I just love the RSC!!! :D ;)

I actually didn't think it was possible for a saw to be smoother than the 372, but I take your word for it......

GOTCHA, they are both smooth, both plenty smooth for any operator. I do think the 441 has a slight edge but thats because of that big fat behind,:hmm3grin2orange: ...

Do we know if it's just two new models, or does it mean that what seems to be the real problem (place of assembly) is changing..? Or could we be seeing a shape-up taking place there?

The problem isn't the place of assembly; it's the place of origin. As in the 137/142 is just a dressed up Poulan. The 240 will be assembled here in the US, but it will be a Swedish engine, not a Poulan one.

I haven't actually seen one yet, just a pic. So, I'll reserve judgment until I get my hands on one.

But isn't that exactly how it is today? They are assembeld by Poulan in the US, but with (most?) parts shipped from Sweden. That's also what Husqvarna answers upon direct questions. And we've seen photographic evidence on here that several parts says "Made in Sweden" in those saws, but with much worse tolerances in the assembly line.

I guess you're right on that one though, we'll just have to wait and see.
