I ordered my new husky and the order got messed up. For some reason I checked out a Husku 385 with a 20inch bar. Which I dont want.

So what I need is some advice.

I can change the order, it was caught fast enough. I have some decent size trees that still need to come down. But I am wondering if the 28" bar is overkill. Should I get a 24"? What I am up against now is that when I buck a tree thats down ( with the 20inch saw) I have to double cut it.

So whats the suggestion?

Thanks

If you know how to use the saw well, you dont "need" a long bar, I can take down a 32" tree with a 16" bar. If I had to use a longer bar, I'd go with a 24" bar.

it all depends on your need's.....i run a 24in on my 372's and 28in on my 385's. a 385 with a 24 kind of seems like a waiste......but then again i have a 395 with a 20in bar on it. :)

are you a pro user? what do you need the saw for? would a 372 with a 24in bar fit your need's?

I am clearing my 3.5 acre lot that we are building a house on right now. We have big ash and cherry trees that are a good 24" in diameter and bucking them is a complete headache(and those are the small ones).

I wouldnt say I am a pro but I have about 8 years experience, I helped clear my dads lot. And will cut down a tree now and again for friends.

My lot has some monster trees. Small weekend warrior chain saws just cannot handle the sheer amount of cutting that is getting done there.

Where in NE? I'm always looking for a piece of ash. Wait, that didn't come out right, I meant I like ash for firewood and if you're close would help out for some wood.

Sedanman I'd say from your first sentence. That he is running for the saw and you are not going to get a piece of that ash wood.
Just couldnt pass this one up. Joking all.

Hey Paul, if you need some ash I could hook you up. Somers is where they are at. This pile is has ash, hickory, birch and oak. Pm me if you are interested.
