Hello fellas,

I'm in very desparate need of the following 385XP parts

Chain Cover

Fuel Tank Assemblly

an Possiblly a Starter Cover

If anyone has these parts please email me right away as I need to get this saw back up an running asap..Had a very bad mishap I was felling some large Hemlocks on a hillside and the saw got pinched,so I went an proceeded to cut the rest with the 029 and just as I was getting ready to pull the 385 free the tree started falling fast and rolled the saw off the stump an pounded it into the side of the stump needless to say I feel like crying as I watch it all happen..Man am I depressed

Thanks a Ton
Rob

Man that sucks!!:( I feel for you!!! That would have me in tears for sure:cry: At least you're alright!!! You can always replace the saw but not yourself!!!!

Hi Rob, no need to worry, if we have'nt done that a time or two then we havent worked in the woods. Think of it as a thing of beauty, and that you only have to ruin 4 more saws. I dramaticly ruined my fair share, without cerimony.

Hey John,

Funny thing I thought about you right after it happened, because I remember when something like this happened to your 385XP cause I remember the picture you posted it looks exactly like mine does now..Well hopefully I can get the parts from someone here like Dan or Dennis maybe before I go an check with my dealer cause I know that is gonna be a big bill..But thats loggin' I guess.

Rob.

pinchyyy

Hey Rob it happens, its like driving your car soon or later your going to trade paint with something. I had a similar experience witha cherry tree. It put the squezze on my new 394XPG and was forced to put a relief cut in above it with an 046. (Stihl to the rescue) After everthing came crashing down and I escaped with just a cracked air filter cover and a bent 24 inch bar. I thought Why in the hell did'nt I just remove the power head from the bar and get my money maker out of the way!! From now on the bar wrench is on my side and time permitting that head is comming off. Good luck with your saw!! The Hoosier

Sharpen your chain it's a jungle out there!!!!

Yup I hear ya there, for some odd reason I just did'nt even think about popping the powerhead off till after the fact which was the real upsetting part of the whole deal..but hey too late now I ordered the parts from CCD yesterday an should have them by Tuesday or Wednesday so the production saw will live to see another tree :D Hopefully it does'nt happen again.

Thanks Rob.

Sometimes the powerhead cant be removed, because the dogs are bit into the bark, but if you can get at it, pop the clip that holds the sprocket, if outboard. This may get you more play to Jimmy the motor off the bar.

Smashing saws

Hello Stihl Mag
I guess we have all been there and done that. It does give you a sick feeling in your stomach to watch it happen.
If you dont have time to get your powerhead off, and the sh### about to hit the fan, if ( big if ) you do have time you can run your tape thru the saw handle and then get back. Sometimes it wont matter anyway, but sometimes the saw drops free at the last second and you might be able to pull it in the clear.
I have never actually done this and saved a saw, but it would work in some cases.

Rob, sorry to here about the saw you'll get it back together, anybody thats cut timber has had it happen, if they say they have'nt they just ain't been out there long enough yet, least you did'nt have to gather it up in a box to pick out the useable parts.

Yup,

The 385 will live to see another day I should have the new parts this week so I can get it back together and go back to timber territory and have at it..It's just been a rough couple days thats all..It all started out with the skidder being dead(needs alternator) then the 385 getting squished now today the 029S is haveing some weird problem..Man I just cant win this week..but it will get better before it gets worse I hope

Thanks Rob.
