OK trying to put my pile of orange pieces back together... I got a new (aftermarket?) starter pulley, and it came with a different style flywheel nut.

The directions say that if the existing nut isn't "exactly like" the one included, to replace it (to support the pulley...) Well the OEM nut on the saw is just an ordinary looking nut, and the replacement has a 'shoulder' on it...so it looks like I should swap.

Which direction will loosen it up (lefty loosey or is it reverse threads?)

Thanks in advance...

Don

It should tighten clockwise. All the flywheels I have ever removed have had the nut tighten clockwise. All my clutches have been counterclockwise, except for the Homelite super 2 that I worked on. I always figured it would be clockwise on the flywheel side so that the motor torque would keep the nut tight.

Oh..I get it......you are replacing the Husky pulley with a Poulon pulley and the center hole is smaller....righty tighty and carry on

*downs a shot of Woolite and sits in the corner*

Thanks guys!

After a 4 year vacation, I got it all back together and it fired right up!

While I had it apart, I opened up the muffler a little, so I should get it dialed in before I go too nuts cutting up twigs...

Wouldn't want to blow the poor lil thing up after surgery :blob2:

Thanks for the help!!!

Keep an eye on the oil case under the muffler......they melt REAL easy when you change the muffler in any way.......
