Hey everyone, i'm alittle confused. I bought a new Husky 445 the other day. According to everything I've read about it it's suppose to be a 45cc, but the label says 50cc. Are they rounding up or is it labeled wrong? Thanks.

Is that a "factory remanufactured" saw?

It has happened before that they have sold returned 450s with 445 starter covers on them, as remanufactured 445s.

What does the emission lable on the handle say? it usaually has the engine displacment on there someware. when i bought my 435 the box said 37cc but the emission lable and husqvarna website both say 41cc. so thats what i go by.

It's a brand new saw not a reman. The label that says 50cc is by the handle. If it was labeled wrong, what could I look for on the saw to verify the correct cc?

my 435 has a "41" ink stam on the top of the cylinder. maybe yours has a "45" or "50" stamped on it. take the cover off and get the part number off the cylinder then enter it into google and see what pops up. thats where i start then i come here!:msp_tongue:

41cc is correct on that one (allegedly a detuned version of the 440 one).

In general I'm pretty sure whatever is on the EPA sticker is what it is, although I'm not that familiar with those particular saws.

Not sure how those US labels work, but does it by any chance say "up to 50cc"?
The reason I ask is that the EPA rules are different over and under 50cc, and I understand this was about an EPA related label?

Its a 46cc saw for sure. I own one myself. Where did you buy it? Do you have picture of the label? A picture would really help!

Sure is, if it is a new saw. What I don't understand is the rather large power difference between the 445 and the 450, much larger than it was between the 350 and the 345? Actually even the 340 had the same power spec as the 445?

OK, it may be because the 450 is over the "magic" (in EPA eyes) 50cc, so it is about EPA restrictions.

I'll try later tonight to get a pic. Work + school + rasing a newborn = no time. lol. I took the cover off and there is a 44 ink stamped and the part number on the cylinder is not a complete part number. Kind of like what I see at my work with auto parts. The number is 5440888 though. On the label by the handle I don't recall any wording saying "up to 50cc". It just said model 445 50cc etc. I bought this at the TSC. I haven't found another 445 or 450 locally to look at around here. What are the EPA rules about 50cc engines? I figured if it was 45.7cc they would round up to 46cc not 50cc? Also this is a 2012 model and I don't see a place to look up parts numbers for a 2012 only thing I can find is 201 model parts look up. Thanks for the help.

Yes it is indeed 45.7 cc by the stamp

I'm quite curious. I'd bet a PBR that's it's 50cc.

I just purchased two used Husqvarna 445's with bad compression. One is labeled 46cc and the other is labeled 50cc. Upon tear down the one labeled 46cc had a 42mm piston and the one labeled 50cc had a 44mm piston. Apparently Husqvarna used two different sized engines on the same 445 saw. So pay attention to the label

42mm = 445
44mm = 450
Same chasis and parts.....just 42 vs 44 cylinder! And 2.8Hp vs 3.2Hp
