new saw, new chain/bar...sawdust plugs oil hole in bar...have to remove bar and clean two or three times per tank of gas...anyone else had this problem or know of a fix..?

Hi BS, err ahh BlackSmith,

Just having fun with your name, welcome to AS.

Is your chain as sharp as it should be? Nice chips being thrown and minimal, almost no fine dust. That`d be the first place to look.

Are bar and chain Husky? Or perhaps mismatched? I'm not questioning your competence just trying to get all info.
Also, if you turn/rotate the bar - still the same?
Are you sure it's saw-dust that's cramping the oil-hole?

My dad owns a a husky 346 XP and it has similar problems. It's not that it gets clogged with dust, but just doesn't oil the chain for sh*t when cutting larger timber (20" or more in dia). Good saw for limbing (high speed.. it screams) but not worth a crap for real sawing. He's sent it back so many times that he's now on the 3rd saw (at least they are good in this regard) but not where it counts. Maybe switzerland has a stricter EPA for chain oiling, I don't know. He went back to his old 026 pro which oils the chain great on a twenty inch bar. I don't know about the other husky saws but stay away from the 365 it's a lemon. Hes 62 and been running saws for most of his life to feed my grandfathers lumber mill, even after he got his mechanical engineering degree during the weekends, so it's not operator error. He's now investigating boring out the pump orifice now that the warrenty is out.

Remove the bar/chain/clutch. Remove the bar backing plate that covers the oiler. Clean all of the paint/crap off of the mating surfaces of the saw and plate. Pull the oil pump and clean the rubber seals. Put it all back togeather clean and will oil great. In fact the 55 usually over oils.

Thanks for your replies...new to this forum...pardon my typeage... so, tried husky 55 with 30 weight oil today...seemed to oil as it should... new saw/bar/chain... bar has 3/8-.050 stamped on it... drive links have "80" stamped on them...oh yea...its a husky chain
