I have a 455 rancher thats been sitting for a couple of years and I need a chain, as it doesn't have one now. I'm measuring about 23 inches from tip of bar to backside of sprocket (what size chain do I need). The name plate reads 965 03 02 -00 so what year is it .Also what is the ratio of oil to gas. .......Bernie from ky

I have a couple of friends with 455's and as far as I can remember they take a standard .375 chain .50 guage and 72 drive links for a 20" bar which is what I think you have. As for oil to gas most guys run either 50:1 or 40:1.

Bernie,

Take a gander at the Bar near the clutch cover.

It will be marked with Gauge and number of drive links.
Odds are ya have an 18 or 20" bar but be sure.
The 455 came in both .325 and .375, and that's on the bar as well.

Mix ratio is 50:1.

Good luck to ya!

Stay safe!
