162 isn't in the same family as 262. But it's not quite in the same family as 268/272 either. It's kind of a red-headed stepchild. It's closer to a 266 than anything. No, it would fit a 266/268/272. The 162 is the same family as the 262.
It would take some work for sure. You can't fit the stock 162 top cover over the 272 cylinder because the cooling fins on top get in the way. You have to Dremel off some plastic.point is that the cylinder in question would fit a 162. neal might have been confusing the 162 with 261.

It depends on whether or not your 162 has the 266 style cover or the regular stock 162 cover. The regular stock 162 cover is slightly lower than the 266 cover, but a lot of later 162s had the 266 cover and dealers regularly used the 266 cover as a replacement part because the 162 parts were phased out quickly.i thought the 272 cylinder was visually identical to the 268. i put a 268 cylinder on a 162 once. didn't have to do any trimming either. maybe that 162 i had was already trimmed.
Yep and yep. 154/254/257/261/262 are all one family, 162/61/66/266/268/272 are another.Hey, I'm easily confused.
So, is the 154 in the 262 family????? I think that's the link I was trying to make.
A 162 is sort of a pre-61 61??
Does this fit the Jonsered 670- 630 saws?
