Besides name and color what's the difference between the two?

Had a local non-Husky dealer tell me Husky changed/stop making engines, a couple of years ago. He was pushing ECHO.

How big of a lier is he?

You guys

the parts come from same factory, the better ones which fill all the strictest standards defined by husky goes to huskies, and those which fail go to jonsereds...

atleast thats what i´ve heard :hmm3grin2orange:

Same guts, different clothes. Major parts are interchangeable.

The non-Husqvarna dealer's remarks really didn't add anything of value to your conversation. Husqvarna still makes and sells saws, though a couple models are rebadged Poulans (the low-end 1xx models). Husqvarna was purchased by Electrolux some years back, for what that's worth.

There are good strategies to sell saws and there are stupid ones. Telling a customer half-truths or offering ignorant, valueless remarks about competing products are among the stupid strategies. His Echo products are more than capable of standing on their own too feet, so there's no reason to bash the competition. I find people like this dealer tedious to deal with and avoid it whenever possible.

Oh, and welcome to arboristsite, too!!

Yes, of course, if anything Jonsered is a more secure buy as the latest Husqvarna engines appear in Husqvarna models before they do in Jonsered models. At least that's my impression, when you buy Jonsered you get a machine that Husqvarna first has beta tested... ;)

Husqvarna is now an independent company btw, Electrolux has distributed the stocks to the shareholders and Husqvarna should no longer be associated with kitchens...:)

Husqvarna recently bought japanese Komatsu (but it won't be finalized until 2007), I don't know much about it, but Husqvarna seems intended to expand.

That's true, when it comes to completly new designs, but it is often the other way around when it comes to new features on alreaddy established designs, like compensating carbs.....:D

Btw, when E-lux bought both brands + Partner (about 1978/79), Husky was the brand lagging behind in some respects - Jonsereds was the world leader in design, imo.:rockn: :rockn:
