Agree, but the MS361 would be a better option than any of those mentioned, except for really small wood........:rockn: :rockn:
Why would a MS361 be a better option then a 2156? If a 2156 feels better to the user then a 2156 would be a better saw? Same go's for the 357XP. ;)

The purpose you've stated, heating a house, helps, but what we really need to know is the size of the wood you're cutting to do that.

I'm partial to Jonsered...I like their ergonomics (and let's face it...their looks!) over the Huskies.

And if I were to have to pick a firewood saw out of that bunch, I would probably go with the 2159. The 2156 is a screamer, but it's tuned "peaky," so you're going to have to keep the speed up to keep it happy. Any lugging and it'll tend to drop out faster than the 2159. You'll save some cashish going with the 2159 as well. Lotsa guys here love their 2156, but realize its trade-offs and make sure you can live with those.

Main concern is to stay away from plastic.
Probably any saw I listed would work for my needs.

Wider powerband and slightly more max power, inboard clutch, and a bit lighter.....

Wider powerband and slightly more max power,
From what I've read here and have been told by people who've ran the 361 and 357/2156, dealers that sell both and/or all three included, the 357/2156 still cuts faster then the 361 in any size wood.

inboard clutch,
Some people don't care about this. Your 353 has an outboard clutch, nice saw isn't it? You always recommend a Husky 350 over a Stihl MS250. The 350 has an outboard clutch, the 250 has an inboard clutch. How come outboard and inboard clutch's don't matter when we talk about the 350 and 250, but they ALWAYS matter when we talk about the 361 and 357/2156? :dizzy:

and a bit lighter.....
What's the differences a half a beer?! To me the 357/359/2156 all feel lighter then the 361. They just fit me better. Again, getting back to if it feels better to the user, it might be better to get! The SPEC doesn't tell the whole story :deadhorse:

To me it doesn't matter on small saws that are used only for crosscutting, simple as that....;)

Not true, as far as I know......

Anyway, not a single piece of what I wrote are based on factory specs.....

....and I agree that specs doesn't tell the whole story.

But since it matters to you on bigger saws (which is subjective anyway's).........it should matter to everyone else. You know what they say about opinions don't you?

Well it is as far as I know. I know people who own and run both the 361 and 357/2156. Some like their 361 better then their 357/2156 for one reason or another. Some like their 357/2156 better then thier 361 for one reason or another. However they all say the 357/2156 cuts faster then their 361. My dealers also told me the same thing. :D

Nonetheless it's a spec, which you just can seem to get away from. You've bickered over 0.1 horse power, oh wait it wasn't horse power it was break house power. But it's still 0.1!!!!! :bang:

You do...............then why do you DWELL on them so much? :dizzy:

Just for the record, the best SpecTroll could do was give me a "neg rep" saying- "I am tired of your "Rick" copycat actions...."! I have no idea who Rick is, must be a pretty decent guy though! :ices_rofl:

Thanks for my first "neg rep" SpecTroll! :looser:

It all makes sense to me-go with what feels the best and you'll appreciate it after a few hours cutting.having said that,I tried the Stihl and it works good but I prefer the 2156-more comfy, less vibration and ,of course, better looking:laugh:As for the neg rep NYH1,maybe it's due to the Stihl in your signature-ha!

The Stihl in my signature has nothing to do with the neg rep. Heck I've gone at with SpecTroll when he was knocking Stihl's (021/MS210, 025/MS250 and 029/MS290) and I was defending them. With him it's all about specs. Money, fit and comfort don't mean anything. I just consider the source now! :biggrinbounce2:

I tend to favor the Jonsered saws myself. I like the way they look and the way they feel in my hands. I would buy the biggest saw I could afford. Do a muffer mod and be happy. Good luck:laugh:

Comfort and Technical design is the main problem with the Stihls you mentioned, not the specs, even though those are lackluster also, on some of them......:buttkick: :ices_rofl:

Lots of members like to be informed about the specs, you have to start somewhere when comparing different options, and I don't believe it can do any harm......

I had no intention of bringing this up in an open forum, but as you already did just that, here we go;

Not being able to distinguish friendly ribbing from serious comments/arguments, and behaving in a hostile manner when you see comments/arguments that you don't like, seem to be your problem........

I have been watching you for some time, and concluded that a neg-rep was due, after that post above...

Anyway, I got one in return from you.........
