Just wondering about other bars whose bolt pattern might match up to my h394XP; Bailey's has got some 24" bars on closeout for olympik/jons, macs, and others. I don't mind redrilling the oiler hole, but I don't have the info to do the background info about the bolts....

Anybody that can help me out?? I'd love to get a 24" procomp so I can mill smaller logs easier than with my big bar. I'm just poor right now; working my way through school and all. Thanks to anyone out there in chainsaw land.

Any bar with the "large Husky" pattern will fit, some exemples is Oregon D009 and GB HU.

This pattern is widely used on other brands saws as well, and probably is the most common one out there.

Regarding Baileys, some of the discounted bars will fit your saw, but most will not - the info is right there, if you click on the blue links telling the length etc of the bars......

Husky bars(large) will fit the bigger olympic/emak saws IF YOU FILE the mounting slot to 10mm from 9mm. I so far didn't have to mess with my oiler holes or the holes for the chain adjuster, just widen the slot and on she went.
I have 16" husky power match bar that is sitting on my John deere cs81, now comes the bigger rim for me sprocket. I just hope my 60dl chain is long enough for a bigger rim.

Different bar mount patterns and a savings of $12.00. Not enough to make me buy the wrong bar and make it fit.

In your case using a larger mount would require making a spacer to take up the extra 1mm
BTW Mikes site shows the Husky D009 mount as 9.5mm but is is only 9.0mm

The same appies for the older (large) Jreds mount (D024) vs large Husky (D009) - Husky mount bars can be used with slight widening of the slot - some times they even fit as is.........:D :D ;)

Oddly enough, I have a couple of old large Homelite bars that fit right on my large Huskies and even oil properly, they are the ones with the large square holes for the tensioner. I have a McCullogh bar off of a 610 that fits my 262XPG (small husky mount) and oils. None of these bars were re-drilled.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I was a little unclear; I was trying to use the other brand mounts on my large husky. Looks like the Homelite or McCulloch mount is the way to go. Thanks Romeo. I was looking at the bar mount patterns posted and trying to see which were the best overlay matches. Thanks. I feel embarassed being such a penny pincher, but I'm a little tight right now, but really could use a smaller bar so I can get away with using LP ripping chain. Experience has taught me that it is NOT a good idea with long bars. (Pulled drive links apart three times!!)

edit: pulled the links apart due to overheating from forgetting to turn up my oiler, and overtensioning the chain because the LP stuff stretches so darn much on a big saw.
