Ive had my model 44 for many, many years. I believe I bought it new back in the 80's. At the time, I was told that it was Husky's smallest pro saw, used mostly for limbing amd soft wood logging. Is it a pro saw or not? It has a dark gray top cover, and cuts very fast and effieciently. Thanks in advance..... :)

44 was not a pro model,it was a"downgraded"version of the 444 that was the pro saw.44 uses a different cylinder and piston than 444,everything else was like 444.Your 44 is a very good saw.

Yes, the 44 first had a white top, later the gray one. It was Huskys way of disinguishing the farmer/practica/semi-pro saws from the pro ones at the time.

The 444 was all orange.

Thanks for the great info and especially the neat pictures that Sawtroll included. Might I ask one more question of you folks? This saw will seep bar oil when it sits for awhile. It comes from the bottom somewhere and I store it over a brownie pan to contain the mess. Yeah, I'm old fashioned I guess. Some might have used tupperware instead!;) I am not a mechanic however like to tinker. Any idea of what this problem might be? and could a novice tackle it? or should I take it to a dealer?

You have to live with that, because the seeping oil comes from the tank vent and with pressure buildup inside the tank, you got this result.Unscrewing the oil cap when storing could help to release the pressure in the tank. Most saw have this annoying problem.

Thanks for the info. I will release pressure from the tank next time. Never thought of that...Thanks again!
