B....... you know I was ready for a Dolmar last week when out of the blue a buddy of mine who is a gun dealer shows up with this new Ruger M77II Compact in a .308 caliber(stainless). I fell in love instantly and was just taken away buy the laminated stock it is beautiful. Anyway I ended up buying the gun and then I had to put a new leupold vari-x compact scope on it to trim it out right so anyway my saw fun has just started over again so now I am looking at early december before I can test out one of those PP7900s. Early december is just around the corner. How you likin your saw.........is it breakin in nice? Take care...........Wade

Wade I have that exact same rifle, the M77 Mark 2 in stainless and laminated, except mine is a .223. It is the most beautiful rifle I have yet to see!
Oh and mine has the "medium" scope-only barrell. There is a heavy barrell version too. I didnt like the looks of it.

Typhoon,
Yeah they are sweat. First gun in several years that gave me the wants so badly. My wife could see me drooling from clear across the room I didn't even have to ask she just said........I know you want it go ahead............so I did, anyway enjoy your rifle........Wade

One night a few weeks ago, I saw a new Remington LTR .308 bolt rifle (a M700 with a 20" heavy fluted barrel and the H&S precision stock).

Paid the $760 and took it home to mount a Zeiss 2.5-10 x 50 on Leupold MK IV mount and rings and adjust the trigger to 3.5lbs. The whole rig weighs in at $2250 at shoots under an inch at 100m.

What's the point? The next day around lunch, I popped into the saw shop for a quick look. He's got a brand new MS 440 on special, the last one for that price for $550.

I was seriously hurting from buying the Remington and couldn't swing it. It positively hurt to walk out the door. Came back a few days later...sold.

The moral? It sucks to run out of money.

Yeah running out of money is depressing for several obvious reasons. Enjoy your rifle as well............Wade

Right on!!

B........That sounds awesome my dad had ultralight arms build him a .308 a couple of years ago and he just loves it. Glad you like your saw. How is the Wood boiler working out? Later, Wade

I need a grizzle bear gun, is a Savage Featherwieght ok, or should I sport a Farquaharson single action with octoganal barrel?
Am I better off with a modified 346 with a 13" bar, or will any self respecting bear ever come near me? Please tell me the truth.
Thanks in advance,
The Great White Hunter

M-77 Ruger

My little brother out in Colorado has a model 77 in 22-250 cal.he shoots coyotes with it ! reloads his own ammo flitrin around 4,000 f p s . a fine rifel in deed !

Hi Rock Out Mechanic, I like the sound of that calibre. I like the way a gun feels in the hands. No need to use it though, unless I need to subsistance hunt or kill my Landlord. What would it be like if we never gave the Indians guns or Whiskey, would the West be any less the wilder? I like the way it goes: Alaska, Calif., Texas, Montana, then Canada.
How's It Goin' Eh?

Personally, I like Dolmar saws and Ruger#1's in .220 Swift. Can't shoot deer w/ a HP. Rifle in Oh. So we explode woodchucks instead.

sweet saw talk turned into gun talk that is more of my territory.

I got a sig shr 970 in 7mm mag last year mounted a vari x 3-9 and i love it. It is one of the smoothest actions ive seen. Made in switzerland. Sweet rifle. Any other sig rifle owners out there?

Jango,

Never owned a number 1 worthy of calling it varmint rifle. The swift is one of those picky rounds, I am more into the 22-250Ackley and the 22 warbird.

For those who have emailed me I will have the first list of guns ready to email in a week or so. I am trying to get the pics organized also so I am ready to meet your demands. Many Cooper Varmint rifles and some wonderful big game rifles. As for Shot guns I will be offering several Ithica 10 mags both used but one was out in New Mexico and was shot maybe 20 times. I will also offer about 100 custom knives I just had to have.

And now for the chainsaw related.

Wow two extremely large logs. Enought to frame a small house i would say.! Amazing
