Not too sure why there is difference in price. Where I am located things are only more exspensive. With that price difference I would import one from Canada. You want too support your local buisness but that's quite a difference in price.
Nothing in the manual about temperature. Only mods for snow and operations for below -5c which I have.If you look at the different brands saws and what they have for top shrouds you will see what I am talking about. I feel it is a week point in the saw. Too suggest that a saw should only be used in warm weather would leave me without being able to cut wood for half the year.Maybye I should move.Not a big deal was just looking to see if anyone had simular problems.

I am not disagreeing with you.......but the dealer is going to tell you just like i did about it being plastic.........the fact that the saw was made to be run at temps below -5 as you stated would make a good argument when asking the dealer to replace the plastic. Especially if it cracked due to normal use and not something dropped on it.
