I need to find out just whats supposed to be in a 394xp chain brake handle. I looked at the husq website (listed in the sticky with all the links) and I could not find an IPL on their site, only owners manuals.
I have put back together a 394xp, but its handle was disassembled before I got it. I used some parts off another saw, but its handle was in even fewer pieces. I have everything in place and it looks like it should work fine, but still no (snap) to setting the band onto the clutch. Down inside the mount there is a part that looks like a sliding barrell. From marks on that barrrell I am thinking there should be a spring that goes around it to force the mechanism to close. Anybody ever taken one apart, and I am correct or does it work under a different force?
I'll try and take a pic to show what I am lookin at.
This has been a fun project. The saw was used on pine and gummed up pretty bad, enough so that the guy sold it off rather than clean it up. I cleaned it up, replaced a few parts from another saw, modded the muffler, and now she runs and cuts awesome. The last part to get back to working shape is the chain brake.
Thanks in advance for any help.
