A buddy of mine says he has a old 188 husqvarna. Im trying to find a recoil for it, preferably complete with side cover. I cant find any info on that saw. Any advice?

Since there never was a 188, it actually is possible that the saw is a 180 or a 185 - I would like to see a picture!

I went and saw the saw today. It's a 181 with a 288 jug and piston.

It was a British military saw with history usage records and a packing case (wood) I will try to upload pictures.
This is the sole reason for signing up here and I don't truly know what I'm doing.
12 years late but I've had this saw for 10 years at least.
The blind making assertions again. I will make one, there never was a 188 but the 181 was a good powerful saw.Um, not only 12 year late but your eyes are 7 digits out- all your photographs' indeed display the military version of the 181SE as has been eluded to many posts and many moons ago- there was NO 188.
My point proven exactly.Um, not only 12 year late but your eyes are 7 digits out- all your photographs' indeed display the military version of the 181SE as has been eluded to many posts and many moons ago- there was NO 188.
It's a lovely saw, so solid and well made. The blind making assertions again. I will make one, there never was a 188 but the 181 was a good powerful saw.
