husqvarna 235 brake band problem

I have a husqvarna 235 and have been having a brake band problem. when using the chainsaw the brake band slides out from its initial position far enough that the chain starts nicking the band. There is also smoke that comes from the chain oil and chain band friction. I replaced the brake band and the same thing happened. Is there something that is supposed to keep the brake band in position when it is in the disengaged position?

I noticed on my 2100 with the brake there’s a very small roll pin to hold the edge of the brake band inplace.
