I worked on a 61 husky today, and it looked unbelievably similar to my 266xp. Do any of you know a for sure way of telling which is which? The 61 had a black top-cover, and an orange chain brake activation handle, other than that, they seem identical in weight, size, and components. My 266 had the case replaced, so there is no tag to identify it. Any help, besides tearing it down and measuring bore and stroke. Thanks.

Know for sure I don't, But I think the 61 (or 161) was the first of Husky's saws on this frame size. It was a very good saw.

You will probably get plenty of responses on this because there are several Husky experts on here.

I am actively scrounging for a new crank for a Jons. 670, which shares the same crank w/ the 625 and 630. As well, Husky 61, 161, 66, 266, 268, and 272 are the same on the bottom end. The current generation saws Husky "3" series, Jons 2171, may or may not be the same internally, but the cases have been changes at least a little to accept restyled outer covers.

H61, J625, etc. are 34mm stroke, 48 bore.
H66, H268, J67o are 50mm bore
272, J2171 are 52mm bore.

Within that there are a bunch of different original equipment cylinder porting arrangements, carb mounting diff's etc. Husky dealer says that some of them are obsolete, replaced with one for each bore size.

Hey Earache , I think the original husky 61 came with a white top cover , maybe someone did a 670 switcheroo or some other Jonse model . Could this be possible ?!
