Could someone tell me what a Husky 272XP is worth, good shape and runs perfect. Does the saw have enough power to run a 24" bar? It has a 20" on it now, i was told that the saw could go up to 24" without any problem. What horse is this particular saw? Have a friend that has one, gently used that he is going to probably sell me. Thanks to all responders.

Probably worth around 300.00.You can use it a 24",the motor can pull it.272 was one of the best saw husky had in his lineup, you can buy it without hesitation. They dont have any particular problem, very reliable, good hp for his size.

I'll second that, great saw, I have used a few of them, I like all the 200XP saws, this is a screamer with 18" for spacing, made for a 24".

If you haven't bought it yet, let me pass along this bit of info. If you ever need a cylinder for this model, they are not as readily available for (what I believe) is a reasonable price. If you are buying a used saw that doesn't have the compression fully disclosed, there is a risk you will be looking for parts that may just wish you put the extra bucks into a new saw... 372xp for instance or a comparable Stihl. Used cylinders are hard to come by as well. I've been looking for a few months. In fact, there's a new one on ebay now, for over $170 and it hasn't ended yet. And Randy has one with the piston for 270 or so... hasn't sold one since I've been watching. And its about the same to get one rechromed.
My advice is put the 300 towards a newer one. woojr
