Looking to sell a ported 288xp. Clean saw. Runs very well, oils great. Fuel line/filter have been replaced. New Tilly 228C. Cut .025 from the base to set squish at .020. Raised uppers. Port timing finished at ex. 100/ transfers 119/ intake 73.
PHO only $600 plus shipping from 42748.

I’ll swap out the ported KS non-decomp for a stock KS non decomp or Mahle decomp cylinder at the buyers choosing for $450 plus shipping.

Any questions please ask

So for $450 I'd be buying essentially a stock 288 it doesn't have the increase compression and the advance timing?

$600 saw configuration is what's described in the post . Cut.025? Milled the base of cylinder to increase compression? After the machining how much has it been run?
Does it come with chain brake and pull start?

For $600 plus shipping you get a complete, ready to work, ported 288xp. Cylinder base has been machined in a lathe in which I cut .025 from the base to set squish at .020

If a guy prefers a stock, complete, ready to work 288 for $450 plus the cost of shipping, I will swap out the ported cylinder for a stock cylinder. Of course stock cylinders with a base gasket will put you at .045 squish.

Yessir, chain brake and pull start are included :)

I see your a professional machinist by trade. Do you think the modifications you made to the 288 substantially diminish its longevity? That would be my biggest saw that I used for flush cutting big stumps or bucking up butt logs for customers that want the wood, or the occasional felling of a big diameter tree. I think the biggest bar I would get far it would be 28 inches.

I would argue that the lifespan of a properly ported saw is in fact enhanced. We’re letting this saw breath. The port work is not extreme by any means. It’s a basic woods port. The compression boost in my opinion is safe for a dedicated work saw. Not to mention a 288 crank is a pretty tough bird.

To answer your question, you should have no qualms about putting this saw to work and it’s longevity. Run good mix, healthy tune, you’ll like it.

What make piston? What make cylinder?
What form of payment do you accept?
I probably gonna sell the 394 xp that sucked in the little screw that held the choke baffle to the shaft. Do you have any interest in the 394xp. I got the little screw out of the case and put it together with a new base gasket and new screw to fasten the choke plate to the shaft.the saw starts and runs and cuts but the saw makes a weird noise.
