I've wondered that same thing myself. I have seen it on random saws that I have picked up over the years. It's been a mystery to me???

Maybe so someone could use a socket on a drill to start it if the recoil starter fails?
These are good little saws. I had one for awhile until I got a 200t and it treated me well.
lol! Just wait your idea might be used on future saws. Like CRANK starting those old model T's

I agree, I have a 334t now and it's never let me down. Was kinda thinking of spair saw.
