Hi guys , I tore down an old 340 to convert to a 346 and it the process I've lost the grounding strap ( stupid me) ... I've looked everywhere but can't find it..

So my question is can I get away without it ? Or do I need it to create spark ?

Sorry if it sounds stupid . Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure that strap is what commons the cylinder & the coil, so (as you initially presumed) without it you won't have spark.
I would find a suitable aluminium can or similar & make one. If you use a regular soda/beer can you will probably need to double it over to achieve enough thickness. Can make one out of paper/card to use as a template if it's easier. Otherwise, as suggested a couple of appropriately sized terminals & a short length of wire will work

Sounds like I'll have to hunt one down and just wait it out. Thanks

No need for self-depravation......just make one......pirce of wire and proper terminals.....its not a part, its a ground wire....
