If it was blue it would already be in my possessionIs it blue?
Thanks for the info and IPL Bill. I think I will pass on it since you say it has that special brg/seal.Others in the family are the 140s, 240se, 40 practica, 444 and 44.
They all share a number of parts but I think it's most similar to the 40, which would mean it has the
proprietary (expensive nla) pto side crank bearing with the integrated seal.
Sort of the predecessor to the 242 family.
Solid little saw but heavy for it's size.
There's a lot better/newer choices if you plan on working it but I think it's sort of cool as a novelty/collector thing.
I'm working on a 140s that came along in a pile, parts aren't plentiful but they're out there.
An ipl in case you pick it up...
Bill said the most already.Anyone have any info or opinions on the Husky 340se? I am looking at one right now that is not running and wondering if I should pick it up. The saw seems to be complete, but other than that I don't know the condition of the internals.
@Tor R
I dont know the serie that much, a little bit perhaps.Hi Tor
You were the one person I could think of that would likely know about these saws, wcorey seems to have a lot of knowledge about them as well. If the saw was in running condition, or something of a mini hotrod, I would consider picking it up. But it is missing the chain brake, and it isn't running, and I don't want to put a bunch of money into it, so I will not be purchasing the 340se.
Judging by the IPL on Barrett's site, Husqvarna only produced the 340se/sg for 2 years, so there can't be too many of them floating around.
