Just added a 357xp to my stable and was a bit confused on the serial number. From what I could find the production years were 2003 to 2011 but the serial number is 01 2700663. Isn't the first 2 digits the year? As in 2001? Or does it mean 2011 and if so wouldn't it be an 11 not 01?

To me thats 2001. Since early one you have one of those 13mm ones so you know.

Show the metal tag with the upper and lower numbers.

If you got your info from Acres that site has alot of wrong info.

That being said I have no real clue when 357 came out but had a 2004 one and Magnus from Sweden said they started selling them in 2000 since he has one.

Just for proof.

Here's the tag. What does the 13mm refer to?

The info on pin width and rod of early ones. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/husqvarna/husqvarna-357-359-13mm-15mm-info/

Info that was posted on chainsaw repair group FB in pics.

Lot of slop if you try and put later piston kit on early rod.
Should be ok. Saw runs good, I do need to replace the intake clamp though. Third saw that I've had to do that on. Cylinder looks ok, don't think it's had a lot of run time on it thankfully. It'll go nicely with my 2002 346xp OE and my 359/357 frankensaw.

Echo uses shims so I would say you can find something out there to take up the slop.

Remember the part about the bearing difference too shown in pic above.

I know Al made some years back for a race 3120.
Nice, thanks for the info. Just pulled the muffler to have a peek under the petticoats and she is just starting to score. I'd surmise that awful plastic boot clamp is leaking. Luckily the marks are faint, can barely feel them with a pick. Hasn't gotten to the ring yet and compression is a nice 147psi but obviously will not run it at all until I get that intake boot squared away. Think I'm going to love it. And God I despise the intake clamps, horrible mistake on Husky's part.
