What are the differences between the 359 & 357? Can I convert a 359 to a 357 simply by putting a 357 top end on a 359, or is there more to it than that? I have a chance to jump on a well used 359 for cheap(cheap enough to rebuild).:blob2:

357

The 357 got a full circle flyweel/crank i think ,,,, check the ipl for the 357 and you see what i mean ,,,,

You can use the 357 top end on the 359,its a bolt on.The difference is the full circle crank on 357 as Swekipp said,i dont think you will feel a difference even if you use the 359 crank(not full ).

So I have to get the full circle crank and 357 topend? It's gettin' rebuilt, I bought if for $65. As far as I know its never been "messed" with, its just well used/worn. Starts up hard, 10-15 pulls and when it is running it has no power in the cut!

They share the same IPLs, so it should be really easy to see which parts are different.

I remember reading about some saw "builder" experimenting with putting the 357 topend on the 359 crank, but I don't know the outcome of it......
