When I blow or suck on the tank I sense no venting. How does one remove the tank vent? I see a black bushing with those metal vents that look like a bunch of wire. Is it pressed in? Screwed in?

Prior owner says saw would run then stop. I believe it was a project for him which was not investigated further before I bought it from him. Blocked vent seems like a probable cause. There was plenty else it needed so I never started it.

Use a deep socket wrench to remove it. The tank vent unscrews. That's how I do it.
I can see no flats for an Allen wrench but I did get one to sort of bite enough to make it spin, it certainly didn't seem to unscew. So I got stern with it and a pick. I extracted a little light colored pellet. With it removed the tank does vent.

Looking into the black bushing it appears to be a long tube. How do I get THAT out? Or do I need to? Haven't looked to see if this little pellet/filter is available separately.

Disregard. I got it out. Lightly threaded a coarse screw into the bore and yanked it out with a pair of pliers. No threads, just press-fit. Now I know what to order. That list keeps growing.....
