So I am in the market for a larger saw. I mostly need it for firewood cutting with a few tree removals for clients here and there. I am currently still rocking my old Husqvarna 359 which has been an absolutely reliable and great saw after 18 years.

I am looking at a new 372XP XT, or a new 572XP. The prices are the same, and I would like to run it with a 28" bar. Mostly cutting hardwoods.

My inclination is to go with the 372XP, but the only option is the X-Torq version which I am not sure about. I just like simple mechanical equipment that can be easily worked on in my own shop. However I have a few buddies that also do tree work that have the 572, and they love them as well. I guess I am more old school and am a little skeptical of electronics.

From the videos I have watched, the 372XP seems to keep up with the 572XP, cut times virtually the same.

So should I go with the tried and true 372, or the modern 572? Is the 572 going to last as long as the 372? Have they ironed out the problems? Seems like there has been a fair bit of complaints and warranty issues with the 572.

Thanks a bunch.

I'd get the 572. I assumed the 372 was cheaper, I dont see much point in buying a new 372 if the 572 is the same price.
The issues with the 5 series huskies are easy to fix.
If you dont mind some extra noise, mod the muffler, this keeps them from getting hot, being a little faster is nice but it's more about getting rid of heat.
I also recommend mixing your gas 32-1 for them, the strato auto tune saws use less gas/oil which means less oil for the bearings than normal old school saws.

You can still get a new old school (same tech as your 359) 372xp from @Robin Wood if you like. I’d get a 572 before a 372 xtorq.
I didn't know he still had the OE. Any idea on price?

OK, kind of leaning that way, but wish I understood those more. I will have to see I'd I can find more info.
Going to be watching this one. 28" bar and steady diet of hardwood means 395 territory to me, but that's out of my wheelhouse so curious what the experts say.
I had considered the 395 or 592 but wasn't sure if that would be too much to swing a bunch in the woods.

Also, would the 395 be a better compliment to my 359 I have over the 372? I mean the share the same number so that has to count for something. LOL

That was something I was wondering is if the 372 would be a big enough jump to take up slack where the 359 could use a break.

372s are easier to work on, imo, but I've only played with one other 5series...562 :p
372 with a muffler mod will do fine with a 28.
There are plenty of 372s floating around if you look.
My .02

395...big, heavy, not that much power compared to an early 066, 660 or current 661 which are more compact and have more power depending on configuration (dual port muffler). If you want a bigger, very fast, saw that runs a 24" but can pull a 42 all day...661. 1 saw, multiple bars...
Ran that for a long time...

If you’re upgrading, upgrade to 592XP. Amazing saw. Like a laser through 28” Beech. It’s a little heavier than 572, but you’ll be holding it less because of its speed and the weight helps with the cut. I haven’t needed or used my other saws since getting this one. Yeah, MS250 is lighter for limbing but the 592 does it in 1/3 the time. Watch the videos, proof is in the cut.

What about 390xp. Same design at old school 372 but with 88cc and not as much weight or size jump to 395 or 592.
390 are reliable and take well to porting if so desired

372 xt can be made-alterd to have great power gains- tryed one of walkers and i was amazed what that saw put out- found their numbers and how to so im not having to scrap their top ends and replace them with xp but of course I think they would frown on that on a warenty, had a 572 for a couple of weeks seemed ok but prefer my ported xp for all around power in the cut- unfortunly stock xt's are not a powerhouse but IMO neither is the 572 (48mm piston but a longer stroke) but they are a nice saw to use

Could be different now but recently they were $950 shipped to you
I'd get this and then someday send it to Kevin to have that thing cut like a mad hornet.

Seller = Paveen and cant recall his username here.

OE 372
