I dont want to bash the dealer i got it at preuss and sons in bolton. Good Guys from what i know. The 395 has been flawless i just feel like they havent tuned it right. Thank you for the responses.

Rumor has it

And you're not the first that's had issues. If you didn't buy a $6000 plus pro grade mower and / or are not a landscaping account that services all the wealthy Hartford suburbs, that dealership does not want to know you.

Drop a PM if you wish, depending on how far you wish to travel there are some decent dealers around.

Take Care

Im going to bring the saw to curtis tommorow. I just tried starting it and forget it the roach didnt even pop. I spent over 2 grand on saws at that place. Thanks for the responses take care.

Because

i find them harder to start when losing compression! so why take compression away to start it?

Because maybe it isn't broken in yet correctly and you will need all the compression you can muster to achieve the correct fuel/air mix for starting.
Two strokes are touchy critters..everything has to be pret near perfect for them to start and run. Just is.

Your technique is the correct way, so yes, the saw is "wrong". My huskys seem to take five or six pulls on full choke, even if they "pop" earlier than that, at least when they were newer. After breakin, go for the start after the pop. And if they don't start after a coupla yanks with choke off, STOP YANKING. You'll just flood it then.

Try it without using the compression release, or follow others advice and try a different dealer, as there very well could be something wrong with it. Leak test, blah blah blah. Just because something is new doesn't mean it ain't broken....

If you have ever worked in a manufacturing factory, you would see what I am talking about....you might have gotten the old "monday morning hangover special" or the "almost quittin time on friday afternoon" rush job..

Been through this with my own 372s. Sometimes they would start just like these guys here say: 2-3 pulls with choke, it pops, then 2-3 pulls no choke it runs..
Sometimes I could pull em ALL DAY and get nothing.

The choke is not seating in the bore tight enough to draw fuel. Pull out the choke and then "snug it" to seat the butterfly.

Find another dealer and make sure it is tuned properly, as others have said. If not, go back to the ding dongs and ask them to put another carb on it. I've had a lot of issues with those carbs. Others have also. - Sam

Try my "fix" first. Sometimes wood dust and cultch can get under the linkage and prevent the choke from seating in the venturi too. Clean and snug! If it don't work, then go pay money.

But it'll work ;) Been there done that a couple thousand times.

Swerve ball added question to my problem.

Hi all. I just joined your forum.
Right, relevence to the above comments and my problem.

Uk based with said 372 XP(24" bar). Less than a year old and only used during training to fell large trees and log out the butts. ( Hardly any use in other words, 10 hours max!).
Mine started fine re above, both hot and cold so no problem with the carb settings ..... but last thurs. whilst logging out a 23 inch dia. UK oak butt it did not sease but stripped the piston rings and lost all compression.... Just died mid cut. Off to supplyer that eve ( good bloke and has served us well for the last 7 years).

Supplyer next day rang back to say oil mix was wrong (50-1) and that had caused the damage.

Lack of oil in mix! I asked him if this would affect the other 2 husky's we run on training (sessions, bearing in mind they are less than 3 years old and the delegated bring and use their own saw 90% of the time). All 3 use the same mix and can for refilling.
Answer was "yes". Both are fine and have a lot more useage.

The 372 seemed to be getting very hot before it died... this ties in with the comment on Carb settings above.

Oilling fine and chain after death was cool enough to handle with bare hand for over 30 seconds.

Myself and fellow insructor thought it was some muck in a jet of the carb / plug. Changed the plug and elliminated that (good spark!).

Could the carb settings (Not touched since new and would have got a registered dealer to ajust them if they were off as this would invalidate the warrentee) have gone to lean to cause the problem???

Dealer is sending main engine conponents of to Husky HQ UK. for analysis... I hold my breath for the result.

Any help from your experiances re this problem would be great.
I look forward to your replys.
Cheers JEZZ.

Id say the High side was set a little lean, and since it has a rev limited coil no body ever noticed it.... Just a thought.

50:1 with a good quality oil is good.

My jred dealer has been having starting trouble with the 2166's (basically a 372xt). Start fine hot, but are a pain when cold. I'm guessing carb issues, but the 2172 he's sold haven't had one problem.

I have a 575 right now that is a pain, the tank is pressurized and causing the saw to not run long or lean out. Which could be a problem with the OP's 372. Gotta rip out the tank vent and either replace or clean it. I tried compressed air through the tank vent line, but that didn't work. Ran great all before this till I had to refill it.:dizzy:

Jezz back again for update re 372 XP status.

Not as bad as feared! Dam thing seems to have overheated?!?
Piston scoured on the side of the exhaust vent. Other side is fine. Differential heating re piston and houseing? We did not warm it up enough to start a hard section / log up of the oak.???
Main Piston housing untouched and bottom end re crank are fine. So £50 (ish) quid for a new Piston.
My dealer rang Uk Husky and got a rant down the phone re Forums after I mentioned you to him....! No forum mentioned on my part. ( Been doing forums for 10 years on different subjects so can sort the 'wheat from the chaff'
Pro saws I thought were designed to take all that you throw at them... (Squaddie proof). Lesson learnt.
Get it warmed up properly, if it seems to be doing hard work and starts smelling hot, go and do something elce for a while to let it cool down. ???!!!???
Feed back on latest would be greatly Received.

Check this out if you having issues still.

Ask your Husqvarna service dealer about 372 Xtorq Service Bulletins; B1100057 & B1100042.
and I will say the 372 X with serial # from 2011 21***** and newer will not have the same issues.
Hope this helps !

I bought a 372 Xtorq about 3 months ago and after about 6 tanks of fuel through it, the saw would just start to run crappy and die.

When i tried to restart, i could pull the starter for ever and the saw would not start.

Dropped it off it my dealer and after I told him what was happening, he asked me if I could wait and they would check it out.

20 minutes later, I was on my way.

All it needed was a carb adjustment and it has run flawlessly since that time.

Where in CT are you?
REMOVE THE SPARK ARREST SCREEN from muffler they clog in no time, or clean it after when it acts up Don't use compression release on cold saw, or ever. Respectfully submitted.

Remove cover, inspect cooling fins for dust, blow clean with hi pressured air. Exhaust is the HOT SIDE of the Cylinder, first to score. Never use ethanol fuel, the lube needs to be compatible. When engine starts to race from low fuel TOO LEAN shut off immediately. Empty fuel= Empty lubrication. Best to get a new pot and piston if that's the case, respectfully WCTF

Check fuel filter pickup. If cloth, they get hard just sitting in gasoline, replace. Day one, we removed and installed a compatible STIHL pickip, (fuel lines are same diameter) still working 20 years sitting in gasoline. restfully WCTF

If your saw's good, there may be something wrong with your starting procedure.
