I looking into purchasing a Husqvarna 385 XP with a 24" bar. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this model? Is it better to run the A stock bar or upgrade to a Oregon bar?
I starting to get into the business, and do a fair amount of firewood cutting. I have experience with smaller Husqvarna's and wanted to upgrade. Any thoughts or comments would be greater appreciated.

My mother has one large maple in particular that she wants pruned away from the house, but i'm unsure whether to take the whole tree down. Attached is some of the pictures, let me know what you think...
It looks as though pruning could solve the problem, but would i be cutting too much off?

Thanks

I don't know a thing about that saw beyond what's on it's spec sheet online. I do know that if you're wanting to pull a 24" for firewood duties you'd be well off with a Husky 372, and you can still get them. There's not a person on here who'll speak badly of that saw. But unless you're going into production firewood you don't need a 6+ hp saw that weighs 15+ lbs. Of course there's nothing that says you can't use that set up, but I don't see a need in using that much more saw than you need. There's alot of good saws for firwood duties. Do a search on here for "firewood saw" and you'll get plenty of reading.

And as far as the bar I'm not a Husky guy, but I think Husky bars are Oregon or Windsor and I don't think you'd gain anything by "upgrading" to an Oregon. There's plenty of fine bars out there to look at though.

Welcome to AS.
