I pulled the cylinder from a husqvarna 50 chainsaw ( grey top anniversary edition). Everything looked good except the piston has a large dent in it. My saw is a 1985 model and has a 44mm bore. I can't find a meteor piston for this saw. I measured a husqvarna 350 flat top piston and everything measures the same except for the skirt cutouts on the side are deeper on the 350. Would this piston possibly work in my saw? I did see a white box (China) piston that is supposed to fit my saw, but id like to have a better one. The 350 piston is on the right and the 50 piston is on the left. Thanks

As far as I can tell they are interchangeable. I haven't used a 350 piston in a 50 but have used 50 pistons in 350's and they work fine.
I do seem to remember something about the wrist pin bosses being just a little tight in one spot on the rod on one but no big deal.

What caused that dent? Looks machined almost and been there a while...

I'm guessing a bolt or a rod. I can see cracks on the bottom side. Either it was stuck and freed by putting a rod down in it. Or a piston stop did it. I got the saw with low compression and a broken rope on the pull start

Do you guys think the husqvarna 350 piston is useable? Thanks for your help. I'm trying to resurrect another saw pulled from the scrap pile.
