After reading some posts from a few weeks back I am now undecided. I though I was set on one of the 55's, now after reading I think I should look at the 346 also. Here is the deal, I can get a 55 Ranch, out the door for about 360.00, w/ an 16in. and and 20" bars and chains, or I could buy the 346 with one bar, 18"(?) and spend about the same. I've just bought 30 acers of land, half trees and half pasture. The trees have been neglected for years, there are numerous deadfalls and lots of thinning to be taken care of. Most of the tree are a variety or another of oak, hickory, and walnut. with some cedar and other soft woods. The diameter of most is of my work would not be over 14". Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello.
$360 is too expensive for a 55 Rancher. About $300 is a good price, and it can be found at several dealers on line. Check with this sites sponsor Sherrills, also Madsens and Alamia.com. Now heres the skinny:
For dirty wood definitely go with the 55. I Prefer the regular 55 and the .325 chain over 3/8 for this size saw. The 346XP is a ultra high speed saw which will mow through 14" logs in no time, but an inexperienced user may not be satisfied with this saw because of its narrow powerband. In my opinion a 55 with 18inch bar and 34LG chain will keep you very happy. Good luck

I too am undicided about which saw to buy. I was all set to order a 55 with 18" bar and the salesman told me about a 261 for 50 bucks more. Now I'm really confused! What should I buy?

Hi Matt, Just get the 357XP and you wont look back, or a 55 or an 026 and so on and so on. You wont go wrong with any pro saw you purchase.

the extra price will get you .8hp more. 500rpm more, and 1.4lb more weight, and 9cc more displacement. the 261 is more of a pro saw with great features such as quick release air filter cover.
whether these are worth the price difference depends on you and what youre cutting. both are very durable saws.

Hi There, I picked up a Husky 55 today that was run over by a pickup truck. All that was damaged was the starting cover and the left front motor mount. Does anyone have these parts kicking around? Used is fine.
I will trade a new Stihl toy chainsaw in trade for these parts or whatever is fair.
John

Dolmar PS-540. Great saw in that price range.
Just dropping by,
Django.
