I've got a Husqvarna 61 that doesn't seem to be oiling the bar sufficiently. The last time I used it, it appeared to quit oiling all together and got the bar pretty hot. I stopped using it, and removed the bar and chain. I found the hole the oil seeps through, and it wasn't clogged. I ran a small wire through it, and cranked the saw. To be honest, I don't know how much oil is enough, but it wasn't squirting out. It was basically trickling out, if that's the right term. Anyway, how can I check to see if its oiling correctly, and how do I adjust it? Also, how do I know if its is pumping out enough oil for the chain? Thanks!

I'm kinda sure the oil adjustment is in back of the clutch. You have to remove the clutch to access it.

Yup, just checked the manual. FYI, you can find the owners manuals for download at the Husky site. A trickle sounds about right. How much oil per tank are you using? I probably go through a half a tank of oil per tank of gas with mine. I can't remember if I ever jacked the oiler up or not. Check the bar out and make sure things aren't clogged up.

The oiler is behind the clutch and it is not too much cash to just replace it and have peace of mind.I had mine done on my 61 when I changed over from a spur sprocket to a 7 pin,I figured while in there ,why not, also put new bearing in there too.:)

Best bet is to remove the oil pump and clean it.To clean it ,you have to remove the small C clip holding the adj bolt and remove the adj bolt. Then push the piston out and the small plastic cap at the end by prying it with a small screwdriver. When removed, blow air tru the passages abd rebuilt it.Very easy to do.Dont forget to remove the oil hose from the tank and check if the small screen is still on at the end. Most of the time ,the problem is there. The screen goes off and the pump block.
