Husqvarna L77 Way Ahead Of It's Time

Temps are down so my old saw come out to play. Harvesting Ash with that L77 & Period Farm Tractor

I have its clone.... Tomos770....OEM to the last bolt. Was picked up from a trash bin. Neighbour threw it away...some wealthy musician guy

I can vividly Imagine how he needed a homeowner saw some 40years ago....and that guy at the counter sold him (rookie as he is/was) the biggest and the most expensive PRO saw in the shop

Saw has maybe 2 scratches on it...most probably was used maybe 20minutes by him in those 40yrs...and sat for the rest of that time in his attic.

How I know that? Because gasoline in it had melted rubber hose in its fuel tank

1 new fuel line&fuel filter....1set of membranes...2 new crank seals and saw runs as new

And I have also switched it to the CDI ignition....

Too slow and heavy for everyday use

I'm curious. Does the Koper-made version have a Mahle cylinder & piston (501 25 02-01 - same as 480CD) or a less complicated alternative from Gilardoni?

Cool! If it's original, 'll be interested to see if it's visibly different to that of the later 480.
I was visiting Huskvarna about the time the plan to make the 66 (268 in USA) in what is now Slovenia, was being hatched.

The cylinder casting looks identical to those on the 480s we were assembling in 1983 so likely the same internally as well.

Do you happen to know what do those numbers on the cylinder mean?

F <---- tolerance of the cylinder?
52 <---- 52mm piston most likely...
ZN1 <---- Zink plated?
W12?

Only one I'm sure about is "52" - 52mm bore (36mm stroke).
Doubt there's any zinc involved.
The cylinder grade, A, B, C, etc, should be stamped on top near the spark plug , usually like this 'C'.
