Husqvarna Serial Number Question

The serial number on my 246 is 6180960. Is there a way to determine the date of manufacture from the serial number?

Would you be willing to share the "breakdown" of a husky serial #?? I assume the first #, "6" indicates 1986, the next two (18) indicate the 18th week, how about the rest?

I am pretty sure that the 246 still was some years into the future by 1986, so I am pretty sure that the "6" in this case is 1996....

The number system have changed several times, but not allways often enough. :bang:
Some times the number need to be put together with other info, to find the year of manufacture, and a few times it isn't possible at all.

Thanks SawTroll. I hope to have the 246 up and running soon. I had to order more parts, (a different oil pump worm and clutch drum) as I did not realize there were two different types for this saw.

A series of IPLs from different dates are availiable trough Huskys web-site.

When you have thye time of manufacture, it should be quite easy to pick the right one......
