Found this thread this morning, figured I’d share my nice older husky’s with everyone here

My favourite saw in the bunch!
The minty white top 1985 61

I picked up a smaller/older Husky 36 a couple of weeks ago.I pulled the carb for a rebuild & put a new fuel line in.The carb was previously worked on by a complete moron.I tried getting the screws off on the metering side & he wallowed out the screw heads,probably with a drill/driver.I got one screw out,broke one off in the carb body,& can't budge the other 2.I found a "replacement" carb with air filter,fuel filter,gaskets,& fuel line for $13 on feebay.I'm assuming the carb will be junk as most of the Chinese aftermarkets carbs are.The fuel line is way oversized,live & learn on that purchase.The chain brake was gutted of the brake band & spring.I ordered the kit off feebay which includes a brake bans,knee joint,& spring.Just wondering what kind ofg a PITA job it's gonna be to instrall all the new parts.I've already got the chain brake apart except for a dowel pin that holds the knee joint in place.
I did manage to pick up a 136 for parts.That saw is missing the entire chain brake & entire throttle trigger assembly.It has a newly rebuilt carb that should be good to go.The carb alone was worth the $30 I paid for the whole saw.

I've owned a many of the 346 OE NE and 353 OE NE and 351 saws over the years.

But this is first one I bought yesterday because of the year made. First year 1999 346xp OE.

Pics before decals I ordered for both sides. Can only get later OE decal for recoil now. Not the early one.

Just air and brush cleaned. Not bad for 25 years. I think the fines and oil preserved it.

Must be doing something right. Picked up a 1 owner 1986 61 from original owner this morning.

I usually pass on the 61's. But just wanted to see why folks always wanted these ones. Little heavy to me for cc. But they do cut fine.

Working metal chain brake still too.

Wiped down the oiled fines and she is nice.

Put a pic with what is prob the original b+c too. 20" 058 73 LG.

Was a good day. Nice weather. Cut a couple trees. Couple loads of wood. Some good banter with the old boys and the old girl puts on lunch and a box of cold ones .

She needs trees gone. I can cut trees and we all need wood. She pays a little bit but I'm not after money. Just wood.

I've never seen rear handle insert wear like that before over the years. Anyone?

Other side was worse. Dealer in my group said he seen them like that used by loggers 5 days a week 6-8 hrs a day.

I've seen that around here... saws came from loggers cutting mostly pinus radiata. I would imagine regularly sawing with the resin of that stuff on ones hands/gloves wouldn't do those grips any favours

61 cleaned up good. OEM piston put in yesterday morning.

Little more then what piston showed on ext side.

I expect the closed 50mm Gil2 50mm 670 champ to just walk away from the 61 open 48mm K&S. But will be fun testing anyways.

Owned all the 266's 268xp 268 272 66. Just never a 61 as wasnt a saw I wanted. But this 86 one was to nice. So going to find out.

Last cut surprised myself I didn’t cut out.

Even opened center baffle and opened the closed exit they did on these. Like they were purposely killing the flow out. 2 small holes at bottom of baffle to go through. I did just enough as I like them to look stock still.

Not with a 61 you won’t. Runs like a open port 60-62cc saw.

Surprised they were doing that crap even in 86.

Gave it a quick coat of black rust reformer. Since out of my bbq high heat black.

I have a 545 MkII in the shop in need of a brake lever (hand guard), I ordered 522677501 but it is not correct...does anyone know if 591083601 is actually the correct one?

Hi guys, it been a while!!!! I just finished going through a 162SE, all new rubber bits, piston and rings, and kitted the carb, it's a pretty clean saw overall and I'm happy with it. I also just traded a clone 272XP for a franken-husky. As far as I can tell so far, it is a 1997 272XP bottom end with a 48mm topend wearing a gray 61 top cover. I dont know why someone would do that swap but whatever lol.Not sure if it's open or closed port yet, hopefully pull the cylinder tonight. It is quite dirty, but I want to learn to port and figured this might be good practice.

for the 162, golf. I ordered one and its real nice
