My cylinder is leaking and I want to fix it. I seems every hydraulic shop wants to completly disassemble it. Is this really necessary? If it s leaking why can't I just buy a seal kit and fix it using the kit? Is there some thing I'm missing here?

That's because that's how u put a seal kit in a cylinder is tear it down to put the seals in
