Today I purchased this little gem. I have no use for it what-so-ever. You guys are to blame. (I have a weakness for saws) Ha ha.

So turn yourself loose on it and modify it.............let us know what you get!!!
They are too noisy when modified. I bought this for camping etc. (I think?) Don't know why I bought it, it just looked nice sitting there all shiny and new ha ha.

Had one. Opened up the muffler on it but didn`t like the sound or whine of it then. So made it original again. Didn`t cut much faster either, together with more smoke in my face.

Thank you Simon, glad that I could be of some help, if indeed I was, lol.

I like the 026/260s also even though they won`t cut with a 346. At last count I had five, or was that six? :D Might be time to thin the herd a little to a more reasonable number like three maybe, after all, a guy only has two hands. :dizzy:

They are just a toy, but perfect for small jobs, camping etc.

A toy to you they may be, they are just right if you have to swing one all day doing clearance or bucking up the pecker poles that we burn for firewood.

Come on, modify it! :D

I honestly don't have the interest in modifying a 50 cc saw. Everyday I blow my nose and it is grey with aluminum dust from my die-grinder. (Sorry about the visual there), a particle mask fogs up my eye protection. I have an order to fill for a large company here and will be modifying (30) 385 XP's in the next 15 days. We have hired an excellent mechanic from the Czech republic, he will assist me and is eager to learn. Modified saws in Europe are almost unheard of.

All this, and the job you have and you get a 260????????

Why??????

wearing the mask higher on your nose will get you less fogging and IMO, use it!! aluminum is thought to be a possible cause of alzheimer's. that dust is getting way past your nose.
just some friendly advice.

I understand Simon, different strokes for different folks. A few guys who climb tell me that having a well modified 3 cube saw often supplants the need for a bigger saw like a 440 for chunking down the spar.

A health related side note. I recall reading a study that linked excessive levels of aluminum in the blood with alzheimers. It would be a shame to dampen your sharp intellect with an avoidable occupational exposure. This might sound crazy but perhaps a good quality full face respirator with a nose cup would be good for you, you could even have supplied air
at your bench for increased comfort and a clearer lens. They are fairly comfortable if you get the right size. You can even get one with add on or built in magnifiers.

You are probably correct, I can't remember. Ha ha.

well alz is caused by aluminum. milk is bad for u, at least last i heard. an so on an so on. nobody gonna live forever just enjoy the time u got. whether it be min ,hrs or many yrs.
i was the first at a wreck sat. my wife held the girls head up so she could gasp air .
her son an mother survived ,not her. she got up that morning thinking she would have a normal day. u never know when u number is up. but for believers,, its not such a tragedy.
just the survivors grieve.. jmo. so enjoy every day like its your last. cause it will be someday.at least on this earth.

Would you consider a 260 Pro a good replacement for an MS 290? I might spring for a 460 here in the not so distant future, and that 260 could possible replace the tow saws I have now...

J Ashly, that seems like a very good idea!

Husky 353 would also be a good idea - I like that one better than the MS260, but that's me......
Less vibration, less money (not over here), about same power, slimmer design, better filtration - but a tad mere weight.
