i graded a guys backyard today he himmed around me price of 100 bucks to to do the work with my skidsteer. out of the corner of my eye i spot what looks like a heavy duty aircompressor so i ask about it we get to talkin he says it quite running.

then all the sudden he goes will you take that for payment.

i kinda stutter a yeah not realy nowing if its anygood. well im home and researchn it and its well worth the 30 minutes u put into gradeing his yard. even if i have put a couple hundred bucks into it to get it going.

here she is

attachment.php

it pushed 16.2 cfm coninusly. i was looking to buy something sililar that would need to push 11 or 12 so this fits in perfect.

anyways ill stop jaberin now

Evan

woooops thought i was in the ot forumn.

That's one of the best portable air compressors you can buy, I framed houses for almost 30 years, Rolair is the only compressor that we found that could sit in the sun, or the rain all day every day and keep running. We ran up to 5 nail guns at a time on ours without having to wait on it. I've owned three, you'll like it.

First step, Check the oil. Those Hondas have a low oil shutdown that will stump you for hours if you never think to check (been there) Most engines will run till they blow with no oil but these just quit out of the blue and will not restart.

Carbs on them honda GX's always seem to bugger up... Probably the problem. Sweet deal although its hard to find a use for the gas powered compressors unless you are on a big job in the sticks that need a lot of air. I do know they are pretty expensive though.

If it has sat a long time the carb is gummed up for sure. I've done a few of those, that the person let them sit, opened up the carb and it was nasty in there.

+2 on the low oil, I've had that too.

i thought this size compressor would be way overkill for frameing? most i see are useing little pancake compressors and theybe got like 5 of them with air hose death traps all over the place

the use i have in mind for it is for air power, impact guns out in the sticks and on excavation jobsites where i might need to bust a wheel of the dumptruck or backhoe stuff like that. when i put brakes on the t-800 i had to borrow a service truck set up with compressor like this. its exackly what ive been wanting

it is stinking heavy.

Yup its good for that Evan. Our main compressor wend down in the Auto shop where I work, and I ran the whole shop off and on for a whole day on one of those compressors.

No those pancake are more for trim than framing, I paid $1800.00 for a 9hp Honda with twin 6 gallon tanks and a dual stage pump made in Italy back in 95. It was the best framing compressor I've ever owned. The only time I could make it work was when sheathing a roof with my paslode 2" stapler. You done real good even if you have to rebuild the engine.

cool thanks

im price n stuff for it now and the air pump alone is 670

I second check the oil, I've have Honda's a couple ounces low and the wouldn't run. And carbs for these Honda's are less pricy than thier competitors, 60$ range retail.

My dad has one like that, except it's rebadged Dewalt, but same engine and configuration. It works great for changing out tires and roofing. That's about all he uses his for.
