I got a piece of ash!!

and apple!!. Temp now negative 6 which is the coldest yet for this spell. been around zero for over a week now. My porch stash (2 1/2 cords) is 99% willow which has me stuffing a chunk in the stove about every 15 minutes in this weather. Went for an armload again awhile ago and uncovered a nice chunk of ash and a big piece of apple. Saving both for the overnight fire. I can see several more nice 'real' wood chunks coming up.

i guess you could ad one more time to how many times you get heated up with firewood. if your up every 15 minutes that would generate heat also:biggrinbounce2: i like the cot idea.

I've got a big pile of apple. I can't imagine burning it in the stove. I guess if all I had was willow I might be desperate enough to do it though. Can't wait for summer to smoke some stuff with it.

Sort agree with you there. I did come across a small batch of apple when stuffing the woodshed. Gave it to a guy who does smoke.

Guys, apple is great firewood if it's dry - The worst brush there is to stack & burn though, it just won't lay down.
