All those nice coals and no marshmallows to roast.

Finally a spring like day.. I went out to the woodlot hoping to burn a bunch of piles but only one wasn't still covered in snow.

The snow was still a couple of feet walking up the hill and got into the tops of my boots.

Oh well...At least I got some woods time in...

Great pic! Thats what it is all about! I know when I made a fire in the woods the Whiskey Jacks would come to see if they could score a free meal! Aka the Grey jay of the north always looking for a handout!

No whiskey jacks that I know of here. I do see the occasional blue jay.

nice picture i always bring some thick sliced balognia to cook in the bush over lunchtime fire cabasy is good too that picture looks like its right out of a stihl brochure but only nicer wish i could take mine half that good

Nice pic Mike. The 361 is what you started the fire with, right?:jester:
I want to hear more about the "gray jay" and what do they look for you to hand out?

It is sure nice to see all you guys concerned about the welfare of my 361.

Rest assured it made it into the back of the truck and home :)

Pictures are funny things as they aren't always what they appear to be. For one the first picture looks level but is in fact taken down a sloping hill. Second the MS361 is not as close to the fire as it appears.

NOTE: No MS361's were harmed in the making of this thread!

Food as soon as you start a fire they come hang around they lose there fear of people very quick! They will take bit's of sandwich right out of your hand! I even seen one try to pull a potato out of the campfire!

Mike what are you doing cutting all that brush out in the woods pulling out tree stumps and ect? Building a campground?

That is a very good question. I haven't really decided yet.

When I bought the land(5.3 acres) it was so thickly brushed that you really couldn't tell what you had. Heck the first time I walked through it I fell in the creek as I could hear it but couldn't see it.

For now the first part up to the creek I want to be lawn/garden and able to cut with a lawnmower so I have been working on pulling all the stumps in this section.

For the back part I am brushing it out so that I can get a feel for land as I want to put a road/4x4 trail up to the top. Also Want to get it cleared enough to easily walk the around the entire property.

I haven't removed any trees of any size other than wind blows and dead/dying stuff.

A campground has crossed my mine but I haven't talked to the town to see if that is a possibility and have not really seriously investigated it.

Right now the woodlot is just my alternative to going and working out in the Gym :D

I took the survey, Scanned it into to the Free Google Sketchup program and did a rough 3-D projection of what the lot is like.

Nice pics, I like you'r bench, I guess you milled the plank?

Yes I did mill it.. It was the first cut from this wind blow that I milled up. Rather then cut it up I figured I could use it up in the bush as a bench and it is handy to sit on.

I just got off the phone with my wife and she got stuck in that travel mess on the east coast. She was supposed to fly to London, England last night but got stranded in Halifax. They put her up in a hotel and she has to wait for this evening flight so she is not a happy camper today.
