I cut fire wood alot and love to race all my friend that cut wood with me they have 660 ps 7100 and other slower stuff. I cut only hard woods oak walnut maple elm. I want fast saw that i can hold up for a couple hours a day, im looking at the 7900 but the 361 is $600 bucks the 7900 is $700 bucks. Plus TonyM is not a dealler any more so I dont think there is any one near me for help on the PS 7900 (im not dumb plus i have all of you smart people to help me if it is in need of help.) Now is the 7900 bar the same is a stihl or what???? I like the idea of the 361 also.
Jack

Thanks guys for the help.

The bar mounts are not the same, and you are not comparing simialer saws at all!!! The 361 is a toy compared to the 7900, so yeah, the extra $100 is worth it for the 7900. Do a little research, I think the 7900 is 85cc? and the 361 is a 60cc saw.

Open worms here

Out of the three choices I would go Dolmar 7900.
No the bars are not the same.

Why waste your money on the smaller saws 361,440. The stihl 460 mag is no match for the Dolmar 7900 either. Thats why I call mine the 460 mag killer. The Dolmar is top dog in that class stock. Pay the extra $100 and be real happy fast.

You are basically right, but the 7900 is 79 cc, not 85.

From what I have read here and on other forums, I would have taken the 7900 over any other sub-90 cc saw, provided dealer support existed (it doesn't here).

The Dolmar 7900 shares the same bar pattern as the Husky HU (large Husky) pattern.
In Oregon language the large Husky mount is D009, The Stihl mount is D025.

I believe HU is GB language (?)

7900. IMO, don't waste your hard earned $$ on the stihl 36X series toys. It's not that much different than your 310.
And FWIW, I pick up my 7900 tomorrow morning. $625 out the door wearing a 20" 3/8. $700 is a tad bit high unless shipping's figured in.

Both are good saws but that 7900 will flat out smoke that 361. Weighs a little more but you can take longer brakes.

The more I use my 9010, the more I like it. My first impression was that it was not worth the extra weight over the 385 for only 5cc. It outcuts the 385 (both stock) by a lot more than I would have expected for only 5cc's larger.

I am about two weeks away from ordering a 5100 and a 7900. I was going to get a 6400 since I do not have a saw in that size range, but the 7900 is the same weight, just a few bucks more.

I just got a price....lol $792.72 thats with a bar and chain also. I hope they are not this much,

Like everybody else said, the 7900 is a lot more saw than the other two. But it really depends on what you want to use the saw for, what you want to get out of it. If all you need is a 361, then the extra power and weight of a 7900 is unnecessary. It's about picking the right too for the job, after all. No better to spend your time cutting up twigs with an 066 than it is to try felling 20" oaks with a Homelite Mini-XL.

Buy what you need.
