Just found a guy in Iona Mi, $600.00 with a 20" bar.
So you guys think the 7900 is better then the 440,460, or almost close to the 660???
Thanks guys.
I hate this site im buying way to much chain saw stuff.

That is a good price and I would jump on it! The 7900 is most comparable to the 460 in displacement and power.

The 660 is almost in a league of it's own and as much as I like the 7900 it isn't a 660!

The 660 has the 7900 by 17 cc or so.

Thats what I thought, the 660 is a bad azz saw but I dont think I want to cut fire wood with it. Im sure I can with the 7900.
Im going to pick it up nest week friday(only day off)
Cant wait.

I have both and I think they are both the best in their class size. The 440 and 460 is no match for the 7900. The 066 is tops in the next class up IMO.

Over the 7900? It weighs the same as the 7900 but produces less power. Doesn't make much sense to me...

I agree with Ben here. Don't over look Jonsered! The 2171 Jonsered is a very fast cutting saw and their reliability has be been proven and they have great dealer support in the lake states.

I'd be interested to see the two head-to-head. I've never had occasion to run one of those Jonsereds (or their Husqvarna equivilents), so it would be educational. At the last Michigan GTG we ran my muffler modded 7900 against CaseyForrest's recently-sold 460 with the Stihl DP cover, both saws were running identical brand new, unmodified loops of Stihl RM chain. The 7900 had nearly a second on the 460, two cuts in 8" poplar, and most folks seem to put the 460 on a par with the Jonsered you mention.

Hay will you guys help me with a muffler mod on this saw when I get it. How many tanks of fuel should I run before I mod the muffler.

I ran have ran a 372 against the 7900 many times as I owned both for a period of time. Like I said they are so close its hard to say. One would be marginaly faster after a run and then the other would win out after another.
Either a 7900 or a 372/2171 will out run a 7900 IME, although this is based on limited trigger time with a 460.
I should also add that for a true comparision to be made both saws should be tuned properly, which takes time behind the trigger and time spent with a tach find out which works best.
I might also add the when I test 70'cc saws I always use hardwood like oak or maple that can barely be cut with a 20'' bar as thats what my 70'' saws cut most of the time. If it can be cut with a 16'' bar I use a 50cc saw.
