Hi Guys. My tree removal side jobs have got to the point where i am taking down more and more trees that i want to take from the top down due to proximity to house gardens..etc...I had one today where i was clamering around a big rock maple with my 201t tied to my waist with cheap nylon rope and i thought to myself enough is enough. I am very neverous of taking the plunge in buying climber gear but i dont thjnk i have much of a choice any more..can anyone point me to a fairly basic kit that will get me started? I also am in canada so i will probably pay through the nose.. also are in mjnd i have never climbed before but am starting to get some of the treminolgy done. I know for sure at the very least i need one maybe two whip lines a saddle a lanyard for the saw and some spurs..any help or input would be great. Thanks

I found this set of kit somewhat close to me. Are these spurs any good and does this kit consists of pretty much everything i would need? I am not a huge fan of that 10 foot whip tho..

Buy you gear separate kits are over rated.. Keeping cheap in mind a basic 4 d ring saddle arbor plex rope from Samson there is a rigging and a climbing version a basic adjustable buckstrap spikes if desired a skim saw or razor tooth saw and a hand full of caribeaners then other than that every thing else is a matter of wanting to spend money you can take down most trees with what I've listed

Those spurs have feet attached. I've never seen that before.

My problem with used gear, especially rope or anything to do with rope - including friction devices, carabiners, etc, - is you never know what kind of abuse or shock loading it has seen. If you are betting your life on it, buy new rope and care for it properly.

And you get the pleasure of breaking in your rope.. Great feeling

What is your budget? Been learning to climb/buying gear myself. I would say you could get a good climb kit for $2000 USD. Not sure on rigging stuff, depends how complex/heavy you want to go.

Universal field supply has some good prices, cutters choice prices are ok when they have sales. No idea about safety landry. Treestuff is my go to when the dollar is better.
