Wow! I just got home from the shop (wife is upset because it is 11:00 here). I got engrossed with the tearing down of a junk Homelite 2100 that I bought from a walk in. This thing was trashed. I tore it down even though it was froze up because of the carburetor and a few usable parts.

As I tore into this thing I began to realize what all these guys (NON- Stihl) have been talking about. I can also see why they are no longer around in the form of the saws they use to be. This thing is built like a tank and the cylinder is like honey comb with all the transfer ports. I do not believe any saw manufacturer could build a machine like this and stay competitive price wise; not even with the over priced Stihls. The piston has a full 360 degree skirt and can see a lot of room for exhaust porting. If I can ever find one in better condition I believe I found my next toy to play with.

I have the Tillitson carburetor if anyone needs it. I think I can save the piston and cylinder. The rings are stuck right now but have it soaking in a penetrating oil bath and I will see if I can polish out the cylinder in the morning.

You know the funny thing about this saw is that I have never even ran one. After running other Homelite Wiz's and seeing how this thing is built I believe I might have been over looking some real gems.

Still got teeth

Those old dogs still have teeth.Amazing, isn't it?Get a hold of one that runs, sometime. It'll make a believer ought of you.You might want to wear your ear plugs though. :)

Yep! but unfortunately those homi days are very long gone. They were heavy also.

i got a super xl auto that i have had for 15 years and it was have a over heating problem and a little timing adjustment solved that....it might be a little heavy but it sure cuts fast and starts in 2 pulls.......

I have spent alot and I mean alot of time on my 1130 rebuilding and restoring it! Definitely these are saws from Homelites best days!

Heavy,humbug.

The Homelite 2100s,McCulloch Super Pro 125,Husky 3120,and Stihl MS 880,all weigh within less than 1 pound of each other. The Mac is heaviest at 23 lbs.The Stihl is lightest at 22.2 lbs.So much for the myth. :)
