I am thinking of buying a Carlton 4012 Stump Cutter, it comes with a 27 HP engine.......was wondering if I can put a bigger one on it, and about how much it would cost.
you do have options, but after buying a larger engine plus fab work,.....to say the least it would be cheaper to purchase a larger machine and trade yours in, or sell your machine and buy a larger machine, just my input
When Carlton goes from the 27 to the 35 horse on the 4012 they also change the size of the jackshaft and bearings. You would need to figure that into your conversion cost. I've run both the 27 and the 35 horse and ended up buying the 35. Big difference in the extra 8 hp.
