I thought it kinda interesting that 2 Days after the ice storm we had here that Home Depot was completley sold out of Poulan Wild things and every other saw sold under 150.00 This past monday
when i went into HD There was must have been 40 Saws and the return Desk.
Hmmm I wunder how many Saw/Tree related injuries the were in SC During the storm cleanup. I noticed 4 people stand on the Tops of ladders trimming limbs within 3 days of the storm. :blob2:

the stores need to stop people from returning storm related items!!! it shows very poor tast and upbringing to buy something, use it then return it when your done, its just not right:angry:

A friend I work with "paid a price" after the storm. He was cutting a limb, that was in a bind, up against his house from a ladder. Limb kicked and hit him in the face knocking him down about 14ft onto his feet. When his feet hit the ice they shot out from under him and he landed on his tail-end crushing the 3rd vertebrae. Now he's in a upper body brace walking with a walker. 48 years young and will probably never be able to return to his current job, a diesel engine set-up man for a major railroad. If he had just waited and called me or another friend of ours, who is an arborist.
Grateful :(

On the return thing; They tell me that's were most of the refurb Dewalt, Makita, and etc. tools come from. People use them for a weekend project and then take them back.

I guess these people never heard of "rental shops". You go there, pay money, use the tools and then bring them back.
Stores take returns to keep the customers coming back. I wonder when they will catch on to the fact that if we all took back what we bought after we used it, they wouldn't have jobs.

Take back

Customer uses it and takes it back. It goes to the rental shop where it is rented out till it brings in 1/2 the price of a new one then it goes out on the shelf as a used one (reconditioned) at 2/3 price of new one. Same customer comes back in and buys it at lower price and brags to buddies what a deal he got on it. Store made money on sale of used piece at lower price. Customer made a couple of trips to store and bought other things while he was there. The biggest thing is to get people into the store, once there they buy things at this store and not the other store.

I stopped into the Northern Hydraulics store in the summer of 1999. They had big signs up saying that they would not be taking generators back on return without a large re-stockimg fee. They knew that idiots would be buying them thinking that the world would come to screeching halt when the year 200 hit. When these people woke up on the morning of Jan1, 2000 and realized nothing was different they would want to return their purchase. I agreed with their policy.

I didn't buy any at that time, but for an eBay user looking for a generator, 1/02/2002 was a great time to be alive.
