ANyone grapple yard down south? Our guys b*tch and whine when we mention that they will have to rig a tree and throw the carriage on for a corner or a couple of roads. We engineer our cable shows for grapple yarding where ever we can.

I have a question. What are the chances of somebody from the east with a forestry degree getting a job in the industry in Idaho? I still have a couple years, but f I can't stay in WV I would love to go west and Idaho is my main focus.

there was more grapple yarding down here in ca. untill the regulations got so stiff. now you cant hardley use a cat for a tail anywhere and every little draw is considered a creek so trees have to be left to shade the frogs. Im not saying it cant be done here anymore it just wont be as easy or fun as it once was. Everything is moving toward thinnings and less clear cuts.

I would stay where you're at. Not much glory left around here these days. I've been getting pretty serious about heading your way....- Sam

I was hoping someone would point out roads every 100' aren't what one would call good silvicultural practices.

I cruised some old jammer units in SC ID. it was ugly.
