I've climbed and done a thousand palms I bet. One thing that I've often chanted while 85 or so feet up on a skinny palm when the wind would start blowing is," they never break",
Today a nice so. Calif day no wind. We get a massage a palm feel over in the calif desert part of the botanical gardens. I've never seen nothen like that. Any one have any ideas?

I know nothing about palms...but is this related to water stress? Grass certainly becomes more brittle when it is drought stressed, so why not its "cousin" the palm tree?

The inside of the Palm was really wet and mushy where the break was. There was some rat holes near the break, but thàts pretty common out here. At least no be hives this time, but that's another story.

Since you said there were rat holes, I would start with Thielaviopsis trunk rot. Open wounds are bad on palm trunks.
There would be no sign of a problem a lot of times but may be some oozing.
