I would put Elk #2 compared to a not too old big horn sheep in taste. I often put in for a non Trophy sheep license as the taste is so good hardly any wild taste to the meat, okay I lied about that they taste like a deer- veal cross. But elk do taste better than moose. Moose are primarily browsers thus the more gammy taste they eat more twigs and buds in layman's terms than grass or hay.Elk yield the most edible meat per animal if you ask me. But I have shot some mule dear lately the last ten years or so that eat alfalfa and they taste so good your mouth will melt!!!The white tails because of there nervous nature dont taste as good but still taste better than mountain deer. I have not bought beef in the last 15 years! All my red meat is what ever I have shot! white meat is what ever the dog has brought back after I shot!lol. But I still buy pork, dam pork is good eating, planing a wild boar hunt to Russia next year only if I can bring back the meat.Lot's of red tape I hear, If I can't bring it back I won't hunt it.

I am not even sure Bob is guiding anymore, Pikes Peak Outfitter's is gone, Gary Jordan sold it and I have no idea what is happening with his area for hunts. It would be a safe bet that the new owners have that locked up?

Colorado is not hard to hunt, and more elk then anyplace on earth! Come on out and gettcha some!
Yes you guy's do have lot's of elk the only thing wrong with it is you see a human ever 10 miles or so lol. Colorado I really hope it does not go to hell with to many eastern tree hugger type's
